Most esoteric traditions teach that a human being is composed of a physical body that is animated by a soul and a spirit. The soul and the spirit are known traditionally as subtle bodies. Misalignments between the subtle bodies require that a person initiate a dialogue process of inner transformation that is called initiation. The newly revised Consciousness Studies intensive is designed to explore the fundamentals of this process through a combination of lecture, artistic work and seminar conversations. The first of two three week intensives covers basic principles and the second three week intensive moves the basics into deeper themes. The intensives can be taken separately or consecutively.

The daily flow of the course begins with lecture presentations on the challenges and potentials of initiating changes in the subtle bodies seen through the lens of Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Science. The second period engages the artistic faculties through guided collage exercises that allow for precise journaling of feelings arising from the design process. The third period is devoted to seminar conversations on texts that describe the dialogue process found in initiation science. Arjuna and Krishna, Job and God and God and the Devil in Faust are the content in the first seminar and conversations on the remarkable alchemical initiation of Christian Rosencreutz found in the Alchemical Wedding will be the focus of the second seminar. Afternoons are devoted to working with these themes in either painting or eurythmy.
